Anglesea Barracks, now home to the Military Museum of Tasmania, was built in the 1800's and had many different uses, including being a home for women, a school and reformatory, but the barracks were originally ordered to be built by Governor Macquarie to house the British regiment.
Built in 1880, Kangaroo Bluff at Bellerive is a gun emplacement and fort that was constructed as a result of suspected Russian warships being spotted on the River Derwent. The battery guns to this day haven't been fired in anger, in which case the site has been preserved both for its picturesque location and historical significance.
Old Hobart Town is a model of Hobart in 1820. Built from original plans, it is an accurate look at life in Tasmania's capital city during this era.
