Enjoy Darwin

Darwin is a dynamic, growing city with a unique tropical lifestyle. Destroyed by cyclone Tracey in 1974, it has been rebuilt as an attractive green city standing on the edge of Australia's vaste outback.

There is plenty for a visitor to see in Darwin itself and an hours drive can take you to a range of very different experiences. Watching wild crocodiles in the Adelaide River or swimming the clear waterfalls of Litchfield National Park, fishing for giant barramundi or viewing the ancient aboriginal rock art of Kakadu are experiences you will not want to miss.

Accommodation can be a bit scarce in the months of June to August when tourism is at it's peak, so book early if you plan to arrive during that period. Traditionally Darwin has always been very quiet during the peak wet season months of January to March, however with modern air travel and all weather roads, more people are coming to experience the power of tropical storms and the wildlife of the green floodplains.
